Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy review
I knew this kind of game might be my type, but turns out far from it.
I first heard about this game through some videos from The Night Sky Prince, and watching the producer interviews alongside them also made me interested in it. Also, some commercial videos of Lightning in Japan around 10 years ago motivated me when I was a middle school student, because I used to be interested in styles and love to see more FF characters in modern outfits.
But the gacha elements in this game make it feel really pay to win, and I’m honestly sick of the greedy feel in the game experience. After around 2 hours, I just turned on auto-battle mode and started wondering if this game was ever going to be fun for me at any point. It didn’t feel worth opening the game every day just to see the characters’ chitchat, no matter whether I chose to pay or not.
That said, I do have to shoutout to the music! The remixed music in this game is rocking, especially FFXIV’s Gaia theme. The gamerip quality sounds kind of bad though, so I really hope they release the soundtrack officially. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-skG0rxo_U
But besides that, everything just feels ...frustrating. Such a good concept trap in a P2W gotcha game.
